KNCE is an independent, locally-owned, community-supported radio station bringing the diverse community voices of Taos, New Mexico to the airwaves and the world. We’re broadcasting from a 1978 Airstream Excella next-door to the Taos Mesa Brewing Mothership, across from the airport on Highway 64 in El Prado, New Mexico.
True Taos Radio began broadcasting as a volunteer-led community radio station in October 2014. With over 100 volunteer DJs, KNCE is an exciting experiment in local grassroots media.
KNCE is not a public radio station, but we don’t identify as a traditional commercial radio station, either. We’re striving to strike a balance between models, borrowing ideas and philosophies that represent the best of public radio, college radio, commercial radio, pirate radio, pretend-radio-you-used-to-do-as-a-kid-with-your-tape-recorder, and more, to create a hybrid that everyone can get down with.
We’re committed to keeping as much of your valuable listening time as possible filled with great music, talk, and interviews that positively hum with the spirit of Taos and northern New Mexico. Our 100+ volunteer DJs cram their own musical tastes, collections, opinions, and communities into the Airstream with them every day, and represent Taoseños of all ages and persuasions — bringing you True Taos Radio, all day long.
